How I Got Here: Chief Commercial Officer at a cutting edge CPG start up
As usual, we have two pieces of content for you this week:
1. A new podcast episode with the Chief Commercial Officer of Harry’s Inc.
Here’s a quick run-down of the episode:
Our guest: Brittania Boey, Chief Commercial Officer at Harry’s Inc.
Career highlights: Finance major at Georgetown; Investment banking at UBS; Strategy at Disney; MBA at HBS; Director of Product and Content at Own Products; Chief Commercial Officer at Harry’s Inc.
Takeaways from B’s story:
B embodies a fearlessness and confidence in her career that we seek to emulate in our own approach to work (and life!) - she says “yes” to putting herself in challenging situations…but also has the humility to accept when she’s wrong or needs help.
B is adept at adapting. Moving countries every three years when she was growing up helped her form the muscle to quickly read the room and adapt (she is a self-proclaimed chameleon!). This ability led her to succeed in a variety of different roles and cultures, from the Boy’s club culture in investment banking to the start up world.
B is not about five year planning. Instead, she suggests focusing on “the thing that’s in front of you.” For her right now, that thing is building and motivating people and creating an environment in which they can be successful.
2. Career reflections by the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Collab, Caroline Smith.
Collab equips local entrepreneurs with confidence, resources, and skills to build new ventures. Collab prioritizes serving people of color — particularly Black and brown entrepreneurs — in order to help combat the structural racism, economic and otherwise, that has created and maintained the racial and gender wealth inequalities in Greater New Haven, CT communities.
In her piece, Caroline shares how her and her co-founder have learned to prioritize their values while building Collab.
